Macro usage and such.
« on: May 09, 2019, 04:34:58 AM »
Hello everyone as you know I'm the infamous macro user. I've noticed a few people have been unhappy with my usage of a macro saying it's "unfair to other players". Personally I don't see it as such but that's where our opinions differ. I will now be listing some ways we can as a community prevent this in the future.

#1: Adding a directional pad and attack button. In my opinion the current movement and attacking is pretty trash. The attack button is something you should be able to press and have the same attack speed as everyone else this would solve the problem of other people tapping faster and it being "unfair". A direction pad would work well for this game considering there are only 4 directions we can move.

2: Banning the players(after proper warning by admins.) This is the easiest option but also the most harmful as a small in-development game needs to grow their player base and community as much as possible

3: world pvp (excluding towns and job sites) I've been farming snakes for 2 days now and other than players walking up and moving me it has been fairly peaceful but I have been able to just right back to my position immiediatly then they move me again and it doesn't accomplish much (Aneju).

Final thoughts: I personally do not see macros being unfair but it has come to my attention that most players think I've been leaving my game un-attended but I'm always sitting and watching. I do not leave my game on while asleep or anything and I'm actually hindering the amount I could earn per hour by sitting in one spot waiting for spawns. I work a 12 hour desk job and that's why most of you see that I'm online a lot but when I am online I am always responsive even during my farming. Honestly even with the current system of movement if macros never existed I would most likely still sit in one spot waiting on spawns mainly because my current work requires a certain amount of attention and I can't be bothered dragging my finger around my screen until I move. I am open to all criticism, questions, and other suggestions. We may not agree on everything but I know we all want to see this game grow and succeed. Thank you :)

Well.  A cheat is a cheat you are not the one who is clicking or playing..  Instead your phone is automated or selfly press for you.. Its considered as Botting/auto-clicking/cheating. im aware that you love the game so much , actually we all do but we didnt cheat..  We hardwork for it with our own fingers.

And also.. Your macro affects the game system like some npcs or mobs disappears on our screen while ure on.

If you really do love the game, stop cheating 🙂

There is a distinct difference between a macro and botting. Botting is a program specifically built for a game that completes certain tasks such as WoW bots that completes whole questlines a macro is just something that presses a button repeatedly. Also I have stopped using the macro because it was affecting the game(was not aware of that one until recently) I would have stopped long ago if Dhex just asked me too. To be fair he could have just straight up banned me and I appreciate his patience with me. Without the macro I can now use my 12 hour work nights to gain wayyyyy more experience than I was getting using it. It just made it easier to multitask while typing reports and whatnot.

Because of the obvious community backlash regarding the issue I want to help prevent these actions from continuing as per my suggestions above. I appreciate your willingness to reply I didn't expect to get any replies :)

Certainly macro is still a cheat.. There should be atleast a bit of punishments towards this practice perhaps like suspensing for a while because its very unfair to those players who've hardwork for such of a time.

Well , I muchly appreciate your benevolent attitude towards this topic but i hope there should be an action towards this very unfair practice.

I hope you understand , thank you.

I believe a harsh warning would suffice considering its been known about for a bit now and warnings could have been given many times. The majority of my levels have been gained legitimately as I only work 4 days a week and I have no life. However I will accept any punishment given by Lord Dhex.

I feel like we've gotten a tiny bit off-topic the main reason for this post was to help come up with ideas to discourage this behavior in the future.

I apologize for this but i believe most of the players already warned you in a way of bothering/dragging you.. (Especially Gian & Ikill)

There should be atleast a response towards this actions since most of the people is fully aware that this app that selfly press for you is a cheat.  So i believe that a suspend action would be enough to consider this mostly complained practice.

I believe you both exposed enough informations to minimize the main problem for this game.

About responsing for this practice let us rely to Lord Dhex about that.

So Enough.  Thank you to you both  :D

A software keyboard will de added if enough people needs it: http://forums.ahlos.com/index.php/topic,7.0.html vote :)
The attack speed will be capped in the next client update, still allowing people to tap at diff speeds up to capped.

2: Banning the players(after proper warning by admins.) This is the easiest option but also the most harmful as a small in-development game needs to grow their player base and community as much as possible

I agree.. ban in the future will work increasily as follows:
-Send player to the start of a maze as a warning
-Jail 1 hour, then 6 hours, then a day, then a week, then a month, then perm ban ..system record this and do it automatically

3: world pvp (excluding towns and job sites) I've been farming snakes for 2 days now and other than players walking up and moving me it has been fairly peaceful but I have been able to just right back to my position immiediatly then they move me again and it doesn't accomplish much (Aneju).

PVP will work at the entrance of towns (path just outside) so you can deffend it and on assigned arenas

I kinda agree here aswell... Botting is undoubly cheating and will be punished.. now clicking on the same and the same spot (autoattacking) is just in the line.. as I stated before.. if the players is not AFK (survayed malee autoattack SMA) I can be a bit flexible here, specially since 0.16 will only allow to do this for 50 attacks... Im currently developing a system where you will be able to leave your character "working" (I actually had this idea since the days of FarmVille), but this will take a while to be ready... will probably be for 0.17.

If the community feels like im wrong at being flexible regarding SMA, Im open for debate, probably a poll is a good idea.

PS: Im not a Lord you silly people :)

Offering my 2 cents in on the onscreen joystick issue, I think it would be nice to have a setting that gives the players the option. While some might want this feature, it may not be for everyone.  I personally have no issue with how it is now. But that's just me

I think there is a thin line between using a macro and cheating.
If its used when no one is really playing is cheating. But yeah it can be helpfull to do some tass like hitting in the same spot while you are aware of the game.

When I talk to you about cheating was when we discovered you using macro without been near your or mobile/pc because you didnt interact and you were hitting to nothing in several directions. After that you were more active using macro but aware of the surrounding and interacting. So i stopped harassing you.

But is still a little bit cheating when you can do other task while playing and dont worry about your character like that it can die because you forget that a monster was about to spawn (happened me dozens times in goblin).

I really appreciate your post and is really good that you help this community and the development of the game to exploit this kind of "players helps" to take awareness and the Developer can take actions to discourage the use of this programs for cheat (not been really there).
